Progress #6: Twin Bridges

In this level, the player must choose between two nations who have a very long history of hating each other.

The north and south continents are joined by an ancient bridge spanning the Grand Canal. In ages past, Jeddachi claimed the Bridge and it's administration was left to the great and honoured family known as the Sweuh.

As the years marched on, however, the interaction with the rest of the world caused a schism in the family.

Younger generations wanted progress, the adoption of new techologies ... defying the age-old prohibition on progress ... a core principle of the Jeddachi. These malcontents called themselves Jerako, the New Family, and were manipulated into rebelling against their own people by nations who were hoping for relaxed tariffs and tolls on the Bridge.

The Sweuh were simply unable to compete with their rebellious children and in turn sought the aid of their own allies, also motivated by the strategic and economic benefits available.

Neither side has been able to achieve victory and now the Bridge is effectively a two-nation state and acquired the name Twin Bridges. Where once a traveller may have paid a toll to cross, now they pay two, one to Jerako and another to Sweuh. Perversely, this has only encouraged further intervention by the other nations, deepening the division between the once proud family members as the unscrupulous seek to install an amenable government.

The Empress of Dust knows that control of the Bridge will effectively win the war and has sent her most devious agent, Dvidui, an ancient vampire lord to achieve this.

Will you support the traditional Sweuh? The progressive Jerako? Will you be able to turn back the vampire hordes of the Twilight Alliance?
