#01 ~ Art Style
A new game is brewing and I'm thinking through art styles.
I chose a particular style for Warmonger: SOTN and I'm aware it put at least one steam reviewer right off.
However, I enjoy it and it brings me joy so ... what next? What's the next evolution there?
4K, obviously. There's something very nice about clean lines on 2d art at high resolution.
The texture paper effect is a keeper, I just love it. The question there is how do I make an RPG character, of the many-limbed variety, in a high resolution style with procedural animations?
I'd like to have a limb-by-limb RPG, it would be awesome to have a Black Knight moment, blood gushing as limbs fly.
It lends itself to a detailed armour and inventory system ... I'm going for it.
So, today I present the first skin tone tests for this art style. Each figure is composed of seperate limbs with a simple colour overlay.
Looks alright, there's 12 working skin tones that work with the style there. Hooray!
Things are getting started :p
