#06 ~ Clock & Character Sheet
Another update just for the fans!
Today I'm presenting the Chronometer, Lighting effects and a Character Sheet ... you can watch them all in action right above!
The Chronometer is a time-piece that translates time for a world that has an 18 hour day. The clock only goes to 9 and sunset starts around 6pm and sunrise starts at 2am.
There are 45 seconds per minute and 45 minutes per hour on this world and this object makes that available to every other object in the game. It's also how you pause!
Which naturally leads to the question: how can I see anything at night?
Lighting was something I was really dreading. But, thanks to several misadventures with surface blending it turns out that you can just copy the alpha values of a sprite over a night-time surface and ease the darkness in whatever shape you've drawn :p
Nice.
And lastly, but far from leastly, is the almighty Character Sheet what self respecting RPG would be without one?
It would, quite authentically, be an absolute scandal to not have one, so here it is!
Check all of that glorious business out.
It's a home-brew RPG and if I had to name my inspirations words like Vampire:TM, Shadowrun, Ars Magica and Dungeons perhaps somes Dragons why not ... these words would all be appropriate.
The primary inspiration there is a story-telling system where xp is awarded for advancing the quest and the how of it is left to the player.
That's where I'm coming from on the game design.
So there it is! A first draft of an actual character sheet :)
